This is where I stand: Sendmail is up and running, I can see mail going
in and out. I am using the Washington imapd for both pop3 and imap
using md5 password. I can type imapd or ipop3d on the server, log in
and check mail manually, but when I try to telnet into the server via
pop3 or imap I get the following.

[kermit:~] bmayeur% telnet thor pop3
Trying 192.168.0.4...
Connected to thor.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
[kermit:~] bmayeur%

[kermit:~] bmayeur% telnet thor imap
Trying 192.168.0.4...
Connected to thor.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
[kermit:~] bmayeur%

Is inetd.conf not set up properly?
pop3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd ipop3d
imap stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd
SuSEs default.

I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated.

-Brian
