Well, naturally I deleted the original email. Can you repost the relevent
portions of /etc/inetd.conf or /etc/xinet.d/? Also, did you perform the
tests locally?

$ telnet localhost 110
$ telnet localhost 143
$ telnet localhost 25

Is inetd running? What does /var/log/messages and /var/log/secure show?
What is the output of:

# netstat -lnp
