I think it all boils down to whether you're using a modern gui based email client, or if you're still stuck on using pine. "It's making a comeback, man!". It's the whole digital vs analog argument all over again.

The whole top-posting vs. bottom-posting deal is a relic. Fighting for
or against it is not unlike trying to fight popular culture's use of the
term "hacker". In both cases it's a done deal, the battle is over and
has been since the 90's, and we should all move on. That said, a lot of
people still dislike top-posting and some people also dislike how the
term "hacker" is used, but it's something that just has to be lived with
now. :)

I'm a top-poster. To be honest, I find it tedious to have to scroll down
several pages to read someone's comments much more than just skimming
through a message thread easily by reading what's at the top of my
screen. Some people disagree and feel that top-posting whacks out the
conversation. Either way.
