In other words, you don't like a system in which the author is free to license
as he chooses. You believe that the user should be able to dictate the terms
just because he expended an ounce of effort.
Considering that 99% of the authors out there disagree with you, as evidenced by
their choice of license, making the change you want would certainly severely
depress the software industry. I know that I would never license software to
you under such an arrangement unless I planned to release all rights (public
domain) anyway.
