Hello, LUGers, from the balmy north!

I'm a yankee- born and raised in the Philly suburbs. However, I'm moving
down in January (probably the French Quarter/Jackson Sq. area) and have
a friend that currently lives in Metairie (New Orleans and Metairie both
are incredibly stunning; much moreso than dirty ol' Philly!). I'll be
living in a community house (still under development) and serving the
homeless in the area but still working for Tektonic (see below). I hope
to meet you all and figured I might as well start to get acquainted with
the flow of the mailing list!

A little info about me:

- -currently a GNU/Linux sysadmin for TekTonic ( http://tektonic.net/ ), a
VPS host/reseller. I've been there for almost a year

- -before that I worked for an outsourced IT company for businesses. I
started out on support and moved on up to GNU/Linux jr. sysadmin/NOC
sysadmin and worked closely with the Windows jr./NOC sysadmin there (we
did a lot of integrated environments). I was there for about 2 years
(still under NDA, can't reveal more than that. :X )

- -been a GNU/Linux hobbyist/enthusiast for about 5 years

- -fairly active member in my LUG- PLUG ( http://phillylinux.org ). I'm
giving three presentations on OpenWRT in April and if anyone is
interested, I can forward my slides and notes to the list after I present

- -active member of my current Ubuntu LoCo and a regular in #ubuntu-us-pa
on Freenode

- -very actively involved in Club-Ubuntu (##club-ubuntu on Freenode), a
"virtual LoCo" that spans worldwide. I op, sysadmin their "WAN Parties"
(yes, it's exactly what you think probably), and do a bit of tech
support in the channel

Distros:
(in chronological order)

- -started on Debian (still run it on some of my servers)

- -moved to Ubuntu briefly (and variants thereof)

- -moved to (and fell in love with!) Gentoo (I currently run it on my
laptop and workstation)

- -toyed around with SuSE

- -got more involved with the Ubuntu community (now run it on my desktop,
some of my servers, and my eeePC)

- -then got involved with and do a lot of work with CentOS (the distro of
choice for Tektonic)

and COUNTLESS of liveCD's over the years (but my favourite still remains
to be SysRescCD).

I've also toyed around with openBSD (prefer it for some of my networking
hardware), FreeBSD, a little bit of NetBSD, and openSolaris.

I'm glad there's a LUG down there! I don't know how many meetings I'll
be able to make- I'm probably selling my car and just bringing my bike
down- but I hope to meet all of you!

P.S. if you're on Freenode, my nick is bts3685! Feel free to drop me a
line. :)
