First joint meeting of New Orleans Infragard - ISACA chapters' Cyber
Security Special Interest Group on
Thursday, Aug 13, 10:30am, Tulane SCS in Elmwood.

Please distribute this invitation to all information technology (IT),
computer, information security, technology staff in your organization and
forward to any IT colleagues in the New Orleans area in business, city,
state, federal governments, private industry.

Infragard Southeast Louisiana Membership Alliance (ISELAMA) is collaborating
with ISACA, a non-profit, non-political, professional association of IT
security managers and auditors, to create a special interest group for
information protection in New Orleans and the surrounding area.

The purpose of the collaboration is to:

--have monthly joint meetings to bring speakers on current information
assurance topics to our community for continuing education

--create a database of subject matter experts for use in the event of a
local or national emergency (privacy/confidentiality is guarranteed)

--create a list of key IT contacts in private/public sectors
(businesses,utilities, city, state, federal, non-profit, health) for IT
emergencies

--compile a list of all IT businesses and IT protection service providers as
a resource for those looking for those services to post on the ISACA and
Infragard chapter's web pages.

--create a basic literacy for information security program to educate the
local working community on the threats and safeguards of Internet and
internal threats to corporate/organizational data.

--bring IT educational opportunities to New Orleans for as little cost as
possible.

The August speaker will be John McCumber of Symantec speaking on the
"Analysis of Internet Threats" seen in 2008. A 60 Minutes segment several
weeks ago mentioned several results of this analysis. This is a high level
talk but one that is of interest to executives, managers, IT administrators
in private companies, government offices and non-profit and educational
