"OS X will be my platform of choice due to the better hardware"
Could you elaborate a bit further. I work with both platforms PC and mac,
and I'm curious about what would make mac platform better in hardware
standpoint. I have some opinions of my own, but it doesn't hurt to learn
more.
I'm involved with video editing, special effects and other graphical stuff
and within the recent 3 to 4 years I've seen the whole video and movie
industry steering away from mac mostly due to hardware reasons. Since I'm
working for non-profit organization, I also have to look everything from the
standpoint of "more bang for the buck".
I admit that OS X is far better as an operating system than the older mac
OS. That definitely helped mac to keep some graphical industry and actually
got some to join into them. Biggest reason for this was adding the support
for OpenGL.
This might not fall into the umbrella of Linux stuff, so you can also reply

PS. I'll try to get to the next meeting also. I've been quite a bit occupied
with other things during the past few meetings.
