I don't know what Ron's deal is<grin>, but what about online training. I
wish I could recall the learning resource that the University of
Houston (my employer) uses for training "MSFT lackeys", but it is
video-based and interactive. This might be the most cost effective,
but I've never sat through anything like it.

I do agree that the biggest change in Office over the years is the UI
and the collaboration capabilities, but in reality the same "go to"
features that I use are always accessible and able to be found - the
biggest one for me is the mail merge.

For all of my other office needs, I use Open Office, but have been
using Google Docs with success lately. That said, I do very basic
stuff and don't usually need more than quick access to a word
processor. You're also talking to a guy who straddles the fence
between Open Office presentations and LaTeX/Beamer for slides.
