We get a mix of Word and PDF files as resumes. I'm fine with either. That said, I'm to the point where I automatically reject a job application if the applicant doesn't follow the requirements for submission. I've found that people that don't follow the requirements are either not very detail oriented or end up being difficult to work with.

This is just my experience but something to consider if you are on the other side of the fence (employees).

It's too easy, but you'd think even a recruiter would know to ask for
a PDF from a Unix/Linux person.
