That's because you and the business down the street are both on the same
cable TV wire running on the telephone pole. You've got the same kind of
cable modem as that fellow does, too. I guess Cox figures stuff out by MAC
address (@home used hostnames, tres secure, mon ami), and decides what kind
of service you get from there.
