You might be already past this point, so an alternative of a little program
below.

I had a moment of trouble with connecting from RH9 to a windows hosted
printer. Then I realized that I forgot the domain name from the login. for
example instead of using
user: pietu
passwd: xxxxx , I need to use
user: pietu@avatarlab <-- note, not FQDN, but works in my setup.
passwd xxxxx

If you don't have network domain, with XP use "user@hostname" as user.

I hope this helps. Unfortunately I can't get the configuration example
because the linux box I did this is at the moment put aside.

An alternative way of sharing the printer is a small print server you could
hook up directly to the network cable.
