I also thought diald was only for dial out. I didn't know it could be a
ppp server, but i could be wrong.

If you want a ppp server, you could be hardcore and setup mgetty to answer
the line, and pppd to setup the ppp connection. i did it a few years ago
and know it's rock solid (the box is still running, RH5.2, haha). i can
send you the mgetty configs.

their are probably packages that make it easier nowadays... linux router
project and freesco come to mind...
