There maybe a command called xf86config. It comes with the XFree86
distribution but it is old and ancient and doesn't work well and will ask
you a lot of questions you don't know. stick with conservative options
though... even if you get it running at 640x480 w/16 colors, that's enough
to get redhat-config-xfree86 running.
>From what i understand, Redhat has been moving config commands to
redhat-config-<whatever>. Xconfigurator was replaced with that GUI only
app, which is pretty stupid to me.
Do you have another machine on your network? You could boot knoppix on
another machine, ssh to the box with problems, and run
redhat-config-xfree86. The display should be redirected back to the
knoppix box if X forwarding is setup in sshd_config.

Sure I am now in the text area (crtl-alt-F1) but running 'XConfigurator'does nothing, so i have been googleing and came accross this '/etc/X11/XF86Config' but i am not sure if this will work, mainly because it says I do not have permission for this, even though i am in as root. Another thing I tried is 'redhat-config-xfree86' and nothing happens. anyone else have any ideas?
