It was the annual bonfire on the levee (near the ferry terminal). I'm three
blocks from there. The wood came from blighted houses that were torn down.
It's a really big deal here every December. Last year it was delayed an hour
because Jackie Clarkson was at a high school football playoff and couldn't
get there on time. I didn't go tonight--didn't want to be out on the wet
ground.
