Dunno,
Tried almost everything so far..... Saturday night I stayed up
until 3 in the morning doing a total disassemble/reassemble. I saw
nothing physically wrong. Sunday I got it running for quite a while so I
said what the heck and threw Windows 2000 pro on it. I did ALL of the
online updates, norton systemworks, and a few other things. I messed
around with it for a while and I actually thought it was fixed. Then
after about 5 hours the display blanked out and I could not get it to
come back again until this morning. I have turned it on periodially
throughout the day for no more than 10 minutes at a time and it has
worked every time. I suspect a bad video module. I can get a new one
from HP for 155 bucks, but I don't know that it is worth it. I am just
going to see how it goes from here and see when it fails next, if at
all. Before I got the HD reformatted I used the phlak distro (based on
knoppix) a bootable CD only version.
