Hello all,
Joey was kind enough to give me a new machine to use as a
classroom server (3 times faster than the old one), but I'm looking a
gift horse in the mouth and trying to add memory. It has a 256meg 266
mhz DDR, an empty DDR slot, and two empty SDR slots. I tried putting a
256 meg (100 mhz) SIMM in one of the SDR slots. The machine will
recognize either the DDR or the SDR by itself, but it won't recognize
both at the same time. Does anybody have a 256 meg or higher DDR that
you would be willing to swap for my 256 meg SIMM?
If anybody's interested, I'm running the latest version of
K12LTSP, which is based on Fedora Core 3. You need about 50 meg per
client. Last year I had a machine with 256 meg and 5 clients, and it
worked OK. I'm hoping to have either 10 or 15 clients running this
year, though, which is why I need more memory.
Thanks,
Dave Prentice
