Ok NOLUG.
This is officially confirming the opportunity for a Linux gathering on Wednesday, July 5th, 2006 at 6:30pm. I say it this way because I don't want to get in the way of "Third Thursdays" or "First Tuesdays" or new moons or hurricane season. I just want to provide a place that people can gather and talk about Linux. If a NOLUG meeting breaks out, cool with me. But as a noobie, I don't want to get in the middle of Politics or Official meetings and all that stuff. Fair enough?
Ok, Trey mentioned bringing a distro. I, too, will bring distros for people to borrow. I'll bring Suse 10.1, Fedora Core 5, Sarge, and a few others. I'll also provide a switch to wire up to get out to the internet (please bring your own cat 5 patch cords) and a WAP if you're one of the groovy Wireless Linux users! Please feel free to bring your laptops, towers, desktops, distros, books, etc.
The gathering will be on the 2nd Floor of 822 Union St. in the CBD of New Orleans. This is right off of Carondolet St. between Poydras and Canal. Please google map for better direction should they be necessary. I will be available at that location beginning at 6pm for anyone wanting to arrive early.
Let us all take Joey's concerns seriously. Although I have NEVER had a problem in the CBD, it is a place that is to be taken vigilantly. Be aware, alert and use common sense. I cannot imagine any problem, but I appreciate the heads up from one of the NOLUG leaders.
If anyone has anymore questions, please feel free to email me directly or use the newsgroup.
I look forward to hosting this event. I look forward to meeting you all. Bring guests, noobies, whomever.
  Peace.

  Mark
