Guys,

I'm very happy that folks are becoming interested in NOLUG again, and as I've
mentioned before, I've been waiting on just that since Katrina. I'm also glad
that we now have an IRC channel again as well as a blog, both of which can
supplement this mailing list and our existing website.

I do want to stress that the mailing list and website are not going away any
time soon. Again, as noted before, the website is user-editable, so if anyone
wants to add information or update what's there, he is welcome to do so.

As far as meetings go, our official meeting schedule is the third Thursday of
each month. It has been that way since NOLUG started, if I'm not mistaken. We
also have irregular meetings, known as "Guerilla Linux", and the upcoming
talk by Golden Richard would rightly be classed as an irregular meeting.
Unfortunately, I will probably be out of town that week and thus won't be
able to attend.

I encourage everyone to attend the meetings. Incidentally, anyone can call a
guerilla meeting. If any member of NOLUG wants to chat with other members at
some coffeehouse on Saturday afternoon, for example, a simple post to the
mailing list giving the place and time usually gets a few people to show up
to talk about whatever.

Incidentally, our next official meeting is Thursday, September 21, at Stirling
Properties, 701 Metairie Road, Suite 2B-201. This is right across from
Langenstein's Supermarket, and there are fast-food restaurants and coffee
shops within walking distance. We'll be meeting in Stirling's conference room
at 6:30 PM. The topic will be a survey of the different distributions of
Linux, what they're best suited for, and which one is right for which type of
user.

Here is a map reference for the meeting location:
