My firm is donating several old computers to a non-profit org. I told the guy that he could put Linux on the machines instead of spending several hundred dollars for each one for software. He was interested.
They need software/distros for kids learning, regular office suite, internet browsing and so forth. I'm thinking Firefox will work for Internet, OO.o 2.0... but what about kids stuff? Also what distro would you recommend. think they are PIII machines with 10gb hdd and 128-256mb ram. I'd like a relatively fast and simple to use distro for this that is also easy to load programs and such. No wireless or sexy stuff like that - will probably be hard wired into a local switch-router-dsl config.
He will also donate some machines to families to take home. so the distro would go home with these guys also.
This is a great opportunity to have several dozen people exposed to Linux. I'm very excited about this project.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Mark
