May 5 18:08:54 norm kernel: Assertion failure in log_do_checkpoint() at
fs/jbd/checkpoint.c:362: "drop_count != 0 || cleanup_ret != 0"
May 5 18:08:54 norm kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------
May 5 18:08:54 norm kernel: kernel BUG at fs/jbd/checkpoint.c:362!
May 5 18:08:54 norm kernel: invalid operand: 0000 [#1]
May 5 18:08:54 norm kernel: SMP

May 5, kernel crash on our (fairly busy) mailserver. I did apply 2
upstream patches for log_do_checkpoint bugs before they made it to RHEL4
kernel errata. It definitely helped. But something still occassionally
(every few months) triggers this ext3 bug.

So yea, linux crashes. Just not as much as Windows. :)

On your last linux crash, was it faulty hardware? Or a poorly written
software driver (using that hardware) that caused the crash? Most of my
linux crashes (mostly desktop) seem to be the latter.
