TrueCrypt seems overkill.

Either way, I'll need to come up with a way to manage the remote file sizes.
I'd like to do something like gmailfs, in that each file is contained in one
or more email messages. Or to put it another way, the files get "packetized",
capping the remote file bundles at say half a gig. I have decagigs (heh) of
data that I need to store off-site. Asking some remote server to store
gigs-large files for me is not realistic.

Maybe something like split can be useful here.
