Soyo Dragon Raid Setup

I had issues installing Windows 2000 Professional on a client's Win2k server. The server has a Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra motherboard, Black Edition. When Win2k setup asked for the floppy with the Highpoint RAID drivers, there was an error and the setup program would not progress any further.

Here is what I did to get around this issue:

0 Enable IDE RAID/SCSI in the BIOS.
0 Place one HDD on one of the regular IDE controllers and install Win2k on that.
0 Once the install is complete, manually install the driver and reboot. Win2k will find the RAID/SCSI device and configure it, assuming you've enabled it in the bios.
0 Shut down and place the drive on the third IDE controller and boot.
0 Win2k might find the new hardware, and if so, reboot again. Once it's happy, shut down the machine again.
0 Place the second drive on the fourth controller.
0 Use the Highpoint setup screeen (hit CTRL-H during the boot sequence) to create your new array. I chose to set up RAID level 1 (mirroring). YMMV.
0 Boot win2k again. It might find new hardware again and ask to be rebooted.
0 If the machine boots again (heh), check to see if everything works correctly. You should be finished, at this point.
