Try this - used it in my one experiment at getting one running, and worked
pretty good.

Does anyone have any resources on how to configure diskless x workstations?
I need to set up a test network here with one server and a couple diskless
stations that log right into x on boot.

After looking at this for a bit (haven't read it all) I wonder if it covers
using a floppy to boot to an x-session?
If not, does anyone have any sites that describe that setup?

RE: [Nolug] X-Workstationsas would be this case. It is a situation where there will be a bunch of really old pc's plugged into a nice new linux box.

Looks like ltsp has moved. They are on source forge now.
The documentation is now at
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ltsp/lts_ig_v2.4.html
and the main project is at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ltsp/
Had to go back and make sure that it was still in there,
but it is. There isn't much info on setting up the workstation
side. You basically have two options, burn a eprom for a lan
card, or boot from a floppy. Section 11 in the documentation
(search for rom-o-matic) Points you to where you need to
get the images for both lan cards and boot floppys. I never
had access to an eprom burner, so all my testing was done with
boot floppies. Unfortunately shortly after I got it up and running
one of my gaming machines died and I had to reclaim the server to
Micro$oft, but with 1.4 gig athlons under $400 now, that will change
soon and I can start playing with this again. My goal for exploring
this in the first place was to have a machine that my wife could
just boot up and use to surf the web and play the few games that she
likes, which fortunately I've found Linux versions of all of them.
