Thanks, Joey. I changed them both; I was a little afraid before your note because I changed only the one with the shorter path (hadn't found the other one then) and it messed things up.
Now if I could find out why it only allows root to log in . . . but at least it will print now to my BJC-80 (haven't tried the LJ 3100 yet, but am sure it won't as that has only printed from Windows before, and then not from my HP portable!).

to be.
