Perhaps, all of the above? There's a broad spectrum - I don't hate M$,
but I don't like most of their products or the ignorance the breed in
people due to it's dumbed-down nature. But as a company, I can't help
but admire them. They also have a really good research division, even
if little of the work they produce seems to go towards improving their
product lines.

I can make a Windows box lock up in no time, using it the way I want
to. It has hinders me, so it physically pains me to use it due to
frustrations I experience.
I think that as more people use *nix, the zealots are becoming more
tempered (at the risk of becoming marginalized) in the mainstream
acceptance they've fought to create.
