We're using the agents on Linux, AIX, and Windows. Netware uses the
mrtg.nlm module but I haven't built a Zabbix template for it yet. No
negative impact from the agent so far. I haven't looked into monitoring
switches/routers yet, but plan to.
I've spent years looking at different agent-less systems that collect data
using ssh, snmp, or various other scripts. And I think being agentless is
Zenoss's claim to fame. In the end I think you're going to get the best
performance and accuracy using an agent. It's just a pain to setup
initally haha... we're monitoring about 120 servers with Zabbix now.
