Hear, hear.
Yada, yada... but if they're asking for Word format, you have to ask
yourself... do you feel unlucky? The employer/employee relationship goes both ways... it's not just about "will they hire me?", but "do I want to settle for working for them?".
I once emailed a resume in HTML and told them it would open in Word.
...but I have a .doc download link on my resume these days, to cover all the bases. Go figure.
