Michael Getting closer.  I found a window to config the connection.  Based on the computer that works, I gave the Ubuntu computer the IP address, Gateway, and Mask. (98.164.124.30, 98.164.120.1 and 255.255.248.0. Metric is blank.  Should this be 0 or 100? I'm wondering why I have to give all this info if I'm selecting DHCP automatically? --- randy ________________________________ From: Michael Walker <doublethrow@gmail.com> To: nolug@nolug.org Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2012 2:00 PM Subject: Re: [Nolug] ubuntu 10.04 Internet Connection I would check my route table to make sure the default gateway is listed and if I could then ping an IP, but not a domain, I'd check the resolv.conf. -- Mike On Tue, Jul 10, 2012 at 1:46 PM, Randy Wild <randywild1@yahoo.com> wrote: > I'm having trouble getting Internet connection on Ubuntu 10.04. > It can't get to websites nor can it do updates that are pending. > Known good: CAT5 cable, Cable Modem with COX. > These work with a Windows 7 computer. > On Ubuntu computer, I see Network and it is showing ETH0. > I made sure I don't have any static IP addresses. > What else can I check? > Thanks. > Randy Wild > > -- -- Mike ___________________ Nolug mailing list nolug@nolug.org
