It takes time. even on a P4. Configuration updates take some
work. It's not as automagical as Debian. But it is VERY current.
Building kde3.1 right now.
My only issues have been that this is a laptop and I have to patch
nvidia drivers if I want to have power management. emerge wants to
upgrade some of the dependencies. Of course I've learned about
package masking to take care of that.
The forums are excellent as is the new newsgroup
"alt.os.linux.gentoo".
