I recently purchased a laptop from Gateway. I didn't get exactly what I
ordered and had a really horrific time getting what I did order. I don't
have Linux installed on it either. Maybe this will help you rule out one
vendor.

Subject: [Nolug] notebook recommendations

Greetings All,
I am in the market for a new notebook and would welcome
recommendations on places to purchase and what to purchase. I am
specifically looking to Run RH 8.0 with the usual suite of memory hogging
apps like open office. I really like the Thinkpad's pointing device but am
unsure about support. Lastly, money is an issue. I am debating over
whether to buy a refurbished Pentium II or go ahead and buy something new.

Thanks

Edward
