Yes PC's come with windows and most all users use Windows on the desktop
and the Microsoft Office Suite. So the MS salesmen are quite happy.
We have had talks to jump on that MS contract thing where we pay one
price per year, but the faculty don't want to be "told" what software
to put on their computers. Even though they all already have the
software.

We don't use MS on our servers if we can help it. The only Win2k servers
we have, we have them because some dept. buys some software and
that software usually will ONLY run on Windows. Which sucks, but
we don't have much of a voice at that point. Right now we manage
each department's server as a courtesy. If it gets to be a lot more
servers then we might have to rethink our methods, but for now
it's fairly manageable. We try not to touch them as best as we can!
