yep.

i'm testing a few changes...

i tried
define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.east.cox.net')dnl
that didn't seem to work

but here is the thing. before i made any changes to the sendmail
config there wasn't a sendmail.mc file.

so when i type "mail" at the command line and then send a message
or if i do

echo test|mail brad@selu.edu

then that command doens't seem to use sendmail to send the message.
I did a man mail but can't see a way to change the smtp server to
send mail through.

....

when i read the file in /var/spool/mqueue/qfh7CGeYr04173

it says

MDeferred: Connection timed out with smtp.selu.edu.

But if i send a message to my cox address the mail goes through.
echo test|mail brad.bendily@cox.net

this works great

so it's failing on trying to connect to any smtp server outside
of the cox network. I also tried and i-55.com email address.
it didn't work.

So how do I get the mail program to send messages through the
cox smtp servers? Is that with sendmail?
It doesn't seem to be sending out through sendmail.

here is waht a failed ../mqueue/qfh7CH26f04328 queue file looks
like:
