You could always trying slapping it on the side when it acts up. If there's something loose, that often helps. It does with my friend's monitor!

TV repair can be a SHOCKING experience... I don't recommend it. The
tube is a large capacitor and holds a charge even after unplugging.

I would go for a new HDTV or a cheep 25" to hold me over 'til HDTV came
down in price.
