Is [xgk]dm the standard graphical login? That's what I'm using.

On further exploration, I found that /home was locked to all but root. I ran chmod 777 /home and now can get into my own directory. The question now is whether 777 is what it SHOULD be. If so, I wonder how it got changed?

This is going in via [xgk]dm?

P.S. - word wrap (or the Enter key) would help the rest of us for
whom your emails are 1 long line.
