First things first.
Lets setup a Distro Holy War meeting (everybody bring your plastic swords
from Mardi Gras).

We can then categorize the Distro's we, use/experiment with, into groups.
i.e. Newbie Install Friendly / Text config or GUI config - NIF-T or NIF-G

Guru Suggested packages per Distro such as ML's suggestion below.

I would also like basic instructions on setting up WEB server, DNS/E-mail
(pop3, imap etc), and Good firewall configuration.
These are the things a Linux box is most commonly used for.

As a newbie, I hate it when you get something that says I installed it fine
with these files (which can't be found anymore)
or the most common use is this, but I'm not gonna show you how to do that
here.

I have DSL here and a bit of free time during the day, so if you compile a
list of links that go directly to the files you want on a CD, I will
download and burn a copy. Only stipulation is that the finished CD has all
the required files to configure a basic WEB/Email server with Firewall for
that distro.

Now onto Install fest 04.
I suggest Distro CD's labeled with Main Kernel, release type and category.
Example Debian ## - Testing KSO-T (Knock your Socks Off), Suse 8.2 - Stable
NIF-G

I can bring a AMD 850Mhz box for distro installs.

Let me know what you guys think.
Chris

I'd be down for an installfest. Do you know when in January you're going
to be doing that presentation? Make sure you use Impress from OO.o
1.1... which starts up 25% faster than 1.0 :)
