Several coffeeshops have wireless and encourage laptop usage, but I'd clear a
desktop with the manager before I lugged one in.

There is absolutely no way Luther's is going to let you set up a PC in their
restaurant.
Perhaps you could find a more suitable place for an install session? I'd be
interested in that, and probably others would also.
