Don't know if you've solved this yet or not.
I don't know of an easy way to do this under Linux, but
here are some Win tools that may help. Some details may
require that you have domain or local admin rights.
NetView - free, command line, can list PCs by role

WinInfo/CmdInfo - shareware, GUI/command line, lots of info
(OS, role, DC, etc.)

SoftPerfect Network Scanner - free scanner, lists shares,
MAC address, ...
