Sounds like your laptop is overheating and 'popping a chip'.
Check all chips that plugin (not soldered in) and gently apply even presure
to reseat the chip.
Try that, and watch the powersupply fan. If that thing goes out it can
cause major problems.
I don't know if anyone has suggested this, I haven't been following the
thread.
