To set the essid and wep string with iwconfig:

iwconfig eth0 essid 'punkbyotch' enc 's:werd'

Also it looked like you didn't associate with the WAP (WAP mac address
was blank). Are you using any type of security on the AP, such as mac
filtering, WEP/WPA, or SSID broadcast disable.
