[Nolug] Cable or DSL?

I guess it depends on what you're doing. However, when all is said and done,
there's really no practical difference between the two. You get a megabit or
so down, and a fraction of that upstream. Linux and windows work fine with
both.

Linux and probably BSD work fine with PPPoE or PPPoA, but there are a few
adjustments you have to make, such as monkeying with your MTU. Fortunately,
there are plug-and-play firewall distros available that handle that for you
automatically (IPcop and SmoothWall come to mind here).

I used to have DirecTV DSL (formerly Telocity), and now use Cox. Both worked
with few problems.
