Greetings all,

I was roaming around on Monster to see what the job market is like here
in NOLA with respect to IT and came across a position for a Sysadmin...
   The only drawback is that it appears to be a pure Windows shop, so if
you can put up with Windows, have at it...

Systems Administrator

The Innovation Group is the nation's premier provider of consulting
services for the gaming, leisure and hospitality industries. We provide
feasibility studies, market assessments, strategic and financial
planning, management and marketing services, and economic impact studies
of the highest quality. We are headquartered in New Orleans, with
locations in Aspen, Denver, Atlantic City, Minneapolis, and Gulfport.
Our French Quarter office and neighborhood were unhurt by Katrina. New
Orleans is smaller, but the suburbs and much of the city are very
comfortable.

We have an immediate opening in our New Orleans, LA office for an
experienced PC Systems Administrator.

Main Responsibilities:

Plan, install, upgrade, and troubleshoot PC workstation, server and
LAN/WAN hardware and software installations to ensure maximum system
reliability, up-time and security:

     * Install new PC workstations with company-standard software
according to company configuration policies.
     * Install, configure and administer Microsoft Windows based
servers, including:
           o Add/modify/delete user Active Directory accounts, profiles
and security permissions.
           o Administer email servers (including user email account
maintenance and SPAM filter rule creation and tweaking.)
           o Configure Windows Group Policies to provide required
functionality and access to resources according to job and department
functions while ensuring maximum resource security.
           o Administer Microsoft Exchange email servers.
     * Recommend and implement changes to user file/directory
organization schema and security permissions to ensure organized and
secure storage of data files.
     * Configure and install LAN/WAN hardware devices, administer
software services/protocols (Such as DHCP), and make recommendations
regarding LAN/WAN topology design.
     * Oversee company-wide data backup initiatives and make
recommendations to ensure minimum down-time in the event of data loss.
     * Troubleshoot hardware/software problems with PCs and peripherals.
     * Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair,
installation, and removal.
     * Recommend, schedule, and perform PC/peripheral hardware and
software upgrades.
     * Recommend the procurement of new computing hardware as needed.
     * Serve as primary liaison with third-party PC equipment vendors
and ISPs.
     * Be on call to resolve local computer hardware/software issues
affecting connectivity between Innovation Group branch offices, remote
users, or publicly published internet resources (websites, email, etc.)

Minimum Requirements:

     * Education:
           o A.S. degree in a computer related field or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
     * Experience:
           o At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting and
maintaining PC hardware in a Windows XP environment
     * Skills Required:
           o Proficiency with the following software:
                 + Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
                 + Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003 Server including the
following components: Active Directory, Group Policies, DHCP, DNS, IIS,
and Terminal Services.
                 + Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
           o Familiarity with online and offline data backup and
redundancy technologies, including: RAID installations, tape backup,
file replications, server failover, etc.
           o Familiarity with VPN technologies and configuration best
practices.
           o Meticulous attention to details.
           o Self-motivation.
           o Strong organizational and project management skills.
