Think about what you said...
Civilization is based upon the accumulated knowedge (and false
starts) stored in books.
I don't know about Philosophers and English majors, but the rest
of us need the accumulated knowledge stored in books.
Can you imagine if each of had to, from scratch, learn & memorize
the C API, and then learn all of the nuances of C???? Then do
the same thing for Perl, bash, Python, etc, etc. Pysicists,
medical doctors, geologists, etc would have to relearn everything.
