Hi Mischa.

Yes, with Android 2.x you can store the app on the SD card. But if you plug
that SD card into another phone the apps won't show up. They have to be
installed again in that phone.

Actually, that's less so for Android in my experience. All contacts are in
my Gmail account, so that's restored easily. A lot of apps store data on an
SD card, and with Android 2.x you can store apps themselves on the SD card.

I also have an app to automatically back up my text messages to Gmail, which
is pretty handy.
