What the heck is *similar* to a flash drive? Either the unit is a
mechanical or it silicon.
It pisses me off TO NO END that people ask for help while obfuscating,
misleading and being secretive with the people who are freely giving of
their time to help these sorry SOBs.
If you're going to dispose of this drive, crack/unscrew the case and
smash to bits whatever you find. If chips, smash them. If platters,
smash them. Not too hard.
