Are you saying a workstation takes a few minutes to obtain an IP address using
DHCP after you plug it into a port?
Remember, these managed switches support spanning tree protocol, for
loop avoidance.
Depending on make/model
Unless it's off by default for your untagged ports or disabled
globally or VLAN-wide
on your managed switch, or you manually fast forwarded the untagged ports...
There will be a delay after link up before any port becomes unblocked and
the PC is able to receive any traffic; that can mean DHCP clients need to
timeout and retry.
50 seconds can seem like 5 minutes, if DHCP doesn't timeout the first request
until a few minutes.
