[Nolug] which cable modem to buy?

Charles and Scott,

Any recommendations on which cable modem to buy? Worst Buy has 4 on their
shelves, Toshiba, Net Something-or-other (I forget what the brand name is
now), Linksys and D-Link. They are all right at $100, with a $10 mail-in
rebate, with the exception of the Linksys which has a $40 rebate.

Also there is a $50 credit or somesuch if HSD is ordered through them at
modem purchase. Dunno if that applies to all of the modems, or just to the
Linksys. Also I'm wondering about how the Cox sales dweebs are going to react
to activation done through a retail store, and if a self-install is still
available if ordered through Worst Buy.

Money aside, which of those brands are good, and which ought to be stayed
away from at all costs? Any other brand besides these something I should look
for?
