For all you Java heads around... The Java language was originally written
with Internet toasters in mind, along with net VCRs, net washing machines,
etc.. It was a concept before its time, and failed. Java was used as an
embedded-type system (I'm sketchy about the details, sorry). After this, the
language designers made a bid to use their code for other types of
applications, and it's done quite well at its substitute usage, as we all
know.
I made a quick reference to to this in my notes, btw.
