wow spreading a little FUD on saturday evening? Redhat Linux 7.x and 8.x
are already no longer supported, so if you're still running them you might
already be h4xor3d!!! </sarcasm>

Fedora Legacy (www.fedoralegacy.org) has pledged to provide updates for
discontinued RH versions for at least 1.5 years. Redhat doesn't directly
support it but does supply some resources for the project. Tell your
friend to get the last batch of RH updates from updates.redhat.com and
install them manually with rpm -Fvh *.rpm. Then install yum or apt and
start getting updates from the fedoralegacy repositories. There is good
documentation on how to do this on the website. Once setup, it's a whole
lot easier then fscking with the Redhat network.
