redhat probably will still do a better job of detecting your video card
and monitor, so you'll get better performance and picture quality. Now
that X is up, i'd run the redhat-config-xfree86 program, let it pick your
card/monitor, but again pick conservative settings for resolutions and
color. If it works, bump up the settings. When you break it, run
xf86config again. Repeat until you're happy.

the nvidia drivers may work better if you start out with a redhat config
with resolution set how you want... good luck!
