Billable time is billable time, unless a solution was specifically
required as a payment condition. As far as your client not getting
paid, that's their problem, they have no right to pass that on to you.
Unless, again, that was a condition of payment.
Having said that, you win some and you lose some. This has happened to
me before, sometimes all you can do is chalk it up. I would not do
business with this person again, but I wouldn't do anything beyond
requesting payment. Do that once a month for the rest of time if you
like...
